It was my birthday this week, and let me tell you, this girl is feeling reflective! It’s not a milestone age, but I’ve come to believe that every age is special because getting older is a privilege not everyone gets. (Okay, maybe I’m saying this to ease the sting of aging, but hey, it’s true 😂)
Leading up to my birthday it was hectic with a few unexpected twists and turns (such is life). I really had to have a word with myself, put on my big girl pants, and remember my worth. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the amazing friends, family, and fiancé I have, I wouldn’t have had the courage to stand up for myself in some tough situations — both recently and throughout my life.
And it got me thinking: life will throw you curveballs at any stage — whether it’s during pregnancy, the postnatal period, your career, or your personal life. But as long as you have your people surrounding you, supporting you, and cheering you on, you’ll get through it. And, more importantly, you’ll come out the other side knowing more about others and, most importantly, about yourself.
It’s exciting, nerve-racking and scary but in the best way - so I’m leaning into it because this little bit of bravery I managed to conjure has given me a new perspective so I’m determined to make Birth Be the support we all need, a kind space, free of judgement just women and parents as a community together supporting each other through it all! So watch this space lovelies - I have plans!
You may have seen the mini series I’m doing on Instagram ‘A Crisis in Confidence’ I believe it’s something we may all go or have gone through especially after having babies and what I’m learning from it is that it’s important to have confidence in yourself, your abilities, and your place in the world. But let’s not underestimate the value of others lifting us up when we feel like we can’t. We weren’t meant to walk this path alone — mothers weren’t meant to do it all alone. So, when you find your people, hold on tight.
And with respect, screw those who are just out to belittle you.
